Access to the professions

Socially exclusive

Access to the professions has become considerably less socially inclusive over the last twenty years.

Limited professional pool

Unless we take action now, the typical entrant to the professions in the future will come from a family that is richer than 7 in 10 families in the UK.1

Social mobility

Social mobility is connected to attendance at a top-ranking university. A 2003 report found that there was a 10% wage premium realised by graduates from Russell Group universities compared to other universities.2

Our students

This is why we actively encourage our students to apply to top universities and train them in the skills they’ll need to secure a place.
