One-to-one tutorials
Academic focusThe weekly, hour-long tutorials are devoted to study with the aim of improving students’ academic achievement.
Shared subject interestStudents are matched with tutors by subject. Where possible, the tutor will have studied the subject to degree level.
TrainingAll tutors are trained in child protection and in how to run an effective tutorial. They are provided with past papers, exam specifications and other teaching resources, and the in-school Programme Manager can liaise with the student’s teacher to gain feedback on what areas the student needs extra help with.

“Obaid is continuing to excel is every aspect; turning up early, letting me know in advance what he wants to cover in our session and always showing genuine enthusiasm – a real pleasure to work with!” - Jez Hansell, Bain and Company. |
At the workplaceIn order to foster the student’s independence and to use the tutor’s time effectively, tutorials take place at the tutor’s place of work or another convenient public location, such as a cafe. We ensure that students never travel more than half an hour to reach their tutorial and if they are on FSM we cover their travel expenses.
Collaborative approachWe believe that all the stakeholders in a student’s life should be involved in the progress of the tutorials.
