Due to the ongoing disruption being caused by the spread of COVID-19, The Access Project is ensuring that disadvantaged school pupils can continue to visit prospective universities – albeit virtually again this year.
Following the success of our virtual Trips Week last year, we are delivering a week of online university trips for more than 500 Year 10 students from Monday 14 February 2022.
This year we are visiting the University of Leeds, Queen Mary University of London, and SOAS University of London. The week’s events for The Access Project students will include virtual visits to universities, info sessions, and live events on socials. We have also worked with some of our alumni who have created videos to show Year 10 students what life at university can be.
How Trips Week supports our students
The purpose of this week is to show our students what life at university could look like for them, and remind them that attending a top university is within their reach.
Working with universities across the country enables GCSE and A level students to access valuable information and broaden their horizons. Our University Events and Student Enrichment Manager, Ellie Edwards, says: “Visiting universities is an essential part of the support that we give to our students. It lets them picture life at university, and builds their ambitions for the options available to them when it’s time to apply. Because of the pandemic we have to visit virtually again this year, but we have worked with our partners at University of Leeds, Queen Mary University of London, and SOAS to create the most engaging and informative experience possible.”
