The Disability Confident scheme supports employers to make the most of the talents disabled people can bring to the workplace. It helps employers increase understanding and challenge attitudes towards disability, as well as ensuring that disabled people have the opportunities to fulfil their potential and realise their aspirations.
As an employer, we recognise that people with disabilities are still under-represented in the workplace in the UK and continue to face stigma and discrimination at work. We have signed up to the Disability Confident scheme as an important step towards creating an even more positive and inclusive workplace culture.
Stuart Sheldon, our Director of Governance and Operations, said:
“I am delighted that The Access Project has achieved this first stage in the Disability Confident scheme . We will continue to strive to offer an inclusive and positive workplace culture which is aligned to our organisational values and our EDI strategy. We now look towards progression to the second stage of the scheme to demonstrate our commitment in this area.”
